Your child is probably nervous. You've told them they're about to start learning for this *thing*. At best, they are mystified, at worst terrified.
That's why I designed my "Four Safety Net Model", to reassure them that their nerves are normal, but that they'll emerge confident and ready.
I talk through these four safety nets with your child in our first lesson, and find that this creates a strong sense of reassurance and safety. With fears eased, your child can lean into their learning and emerge both ready for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah and with a love for their Sephardi Torah music and traditions.
It doesn't matter what synagogue you're celebrating in, I can help.
I've taught Sephardi Torah music and traditions to Bar or Bat Mitzvah kids celebrating at S&P synagogues (Bevis Marks, Lauderdale Road) and at Masorti (NNLS), Egalitarian and Progressive services. I've even taught kids having their bar mitzvah and bat mitzvah outside the UK.
I teach Torah & Haftorah in the traditional Spanish & Portuguese musical tradition (the UK's oldest). I also help with Dvar Torah if desired.
I typically teach at your house, or via Zoom.
I teach because I am passionate about helping our kids start their Jewish adulthood with confidence, and with a love for Jewish thought, history and tradition. I'm a proud "Jewish-Nerd" with a BA in Hebrew and an MA in Jewish Studies and I bring this wider knowledge into our lessons.
The best way to know what it's like to work with me is to read the experiences of other students. These are available via PDFs on this page.
